Revolution is Your Mind

You might think to blame the rich and the banker in a suit
All the troubles in the world have money at the root
But money’s a distraction, keeping us apart
The truth of all existence is living in your heart

You might want to blame the rapists the plunderers the goons
And sure enough we have to stop them there’s lots of work to do
Stand up to injustice, you gotta love to play your part
The solution to the problem is growing in your heart

Yes we need a revolution, let’s take it to the streets
But the risk of revolution is three six zero degrees
Yes we need a revolution, let’s get it right this time
The frontline of the revolution is your mind

What have you been thinking? Does the world seem dark and dumb?
Are you smelling something rotten? Are you feeling lost and numb?
Maybe you’re being pressured by some secret despot’s thumb.
More likely you have got your head shoved up your own bum

We are marionettes on strings of desire
Our stage is a thin crust on a great ball of fire
Grab on to your handle, choose to rise above
All that’s wrong comes from fear, what’s right comes from love

Yes we need a revolution, be sure to rock the vote
But that’s not revolution, that’s just who steers the boat
We’re the revolution, it’s how we spend our time
The frontline of the revolution is your mind
